Doctor ordered an xray for my mother, a group care home resident. Business office of the xray company called me to say they would not do the xray without upfront payment because Medicare was a secondary, not primary payer. They insisted that the primary was a Medicare supplemental carrier that my mother had 20 years ago and has not had for many years. They refused to listen when I tried to explain that Medicare is primary and Tricare-for-Life was secondary, and that was the only medical coverage that she has. Because she may have had a Medicare supplement 20 years ago, they insisted that was still her primary insurance. Even if she did have the other insurance (which she has not had for years and years), it still would have been secondary since it was a Medicare supplement. They refused to listen or to tell me how we could get this erroneous information corrected.
